Changes to the preseason
The reigning world champion of the 2018 season Sébastien Ogier switched from M-Sport to Citroen, and the former Toyota driver Esapekka Lappi also switched to Citroen. After the previous sponsor (Abu Dhabi) left the company, Citroen decided to only use 2 cars. Elfyn Evans and Teemu Suninen stayed with M-Sport, after the departure of Sébastien Ogier, Pontus Tidemand took over the 3rd M-Sport Ford, at least for the first two rallies. Thierry Neuville and Andreas Mikkelsen stayed with Hyundai, Sébastien Loeb and Dani Sordo shared the third car. Toyota stuck to Ott Tänak and Jari-Matti Latvala , while Kris Meeke was the third driver . The Briton was still on the road for Citroen the year before.

The evaluation of the Junior WRC worked a little differently than the other evaluations. The FIA point system was used as in the other classifications, but there was one point for each stage won. In addition, double points were awarded at the last rally.
