Daniel Elena (born October 26, 1972 in Monaco ) is a Monaco rally driver. He became known as the longtime navigator of the record world champion Sébastien Loeb .
Elena began his rally career in 1997 as co-driver for Hervé Bernard. During the year he switched to the Loeb cockpit. In 1999 they won the Citroën Saxo Trophy, in 2001 the Junior World Rally Championship in a Citroën Saxo and the French Rally Championship in a Citroën Xsara . In 2002 they won their first WRC victory at the Rally Germany . From 2004 to 2012 Elena won the World Rally Championship nine times in a row with Loeb . The duo drove a Citroën C4 WRC from 2007 to 2010 and a Citroën DS3 WRC in 2011 and 2012 . Elena achieved 78 victories in the World Rally Championship with Loeb, making her the co-driver with the most victories in the history of the WRC. He won the Monte Carlo Rally , Elena's home rally, seven times with Loeb.
Although he has the Monegasque nationality, he was voted France's Sportsman of the Year in 2007 and 2009 together with Loeb .
Elena is married and has two children. He and his family live near Lausanne in Switzerland . Outside of his motorsport activities, Elena works as a winemaker and presses high-priced wines, which are also offered on Loeb's website.
