Race report

The rally was traditionally held around Trier and started on Friday (August 20) at the Porta Nigra . In the following days the route led into the vineyards of the Moselle region , over the Panzerplatte and on Sunday back to the city, where the last special stage took place.

The Rally Germany was firmly in the hands of Sébastien Loeb . The world champion led from the first special stage and never left any doubts about his eighth win in a row at this rally. Team mate Dani Sordo showed a good performance in second. Sébastien Ogier completed the triple success of the French manufacturer Citroën. Ford had a difficult weekend. Jari-Matti Latvala took fourth championship points as the best Ford driver. After a puncture on the first day, Petter Solberg showed a strong race to catch up, which ultimately brought him to fifth place. Although Kimi Räikkönen (Citroën) had to admit defeat to Ford driver Matthew Wilson in the battle for sixth place, Raikkönen achieved a good result in the asphalt rally.
