Hermann Gassner junior (born November 29, 1988 in Bad Reichenhall ) is a German rally driver . He is the son of the multiple German rally champion Hermann Gassner senior .

Career

Hermann Gassner junior started rallies in advance in 2006 at the age of 17. In 2007 he began his career as a rally driver in his father's team and with co-driver Katharina Wüstenhagen . He drove a Suzuki Ignis Sport in the Suzuki Rallye Cup , which was held as part of the German rally championship , and won the Suzuki Ignis classification. In the overall ranking of the German rally championship, he finished seventh at the end of the season. 2008 drove Gassner with various Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution of Group N in the German Rally Championship. He reached fourth place as the best individual result and finished the season on the fourth championship place. He also finished second in the Mitropa Rally Cup behind his father .

In the 2009 season, Gassner also competed in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX. At the season opener of the German rally championship, the Bayern-Rallye Oberland , he scored his first DRM victory. Three more victories followed at the Hessen-Rallye Vogelsberg , the Saarland-Rallye and the Lausitz-Rallye . By the end of the season he had accumulated the most points and thus became German rally champion. He also won the Mitropa Rally Cup and achieved his first victory in the Austrian championship at the Judenburg-Pölstal Rally . Gassner also made a few appearances in the World Rally Championship and achieved a PWRC point at the Rally Great Britain .

In 2010 Gassner was accepted into Raimund Baumschlager 's Red Bull team . He completed six rallies in the World Championship in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX. At the Rally Germany he finished fourth in the PWRC classification. In 2011, Gassner competed in the SWRC with a Škoda Fabia S2000 . In his first rally with the new vehicle, the Jordan Rally , he achieved third place in the SWRC standings. Starting at the Mecsek Rally , he made his debut in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge , where he finished fifth. Hermann Gassner Junior is currently driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X R4 with his co-driver Ursula Mayrhofer.
