Rally Islas Canarias 2011

The 2011 Rally Islas Canarias was the second run of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge 2011 . The rally took place on April 14-16, 2011 on the island of Gran Canaria . It was also part of the Spanish rally championship .

The paddock for the rally was in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria . After the shake down on April 14th, the first special stages took place on April 15th. On the first day of the rally, eight stages with a length of 116.81 kilometers were on the program, including two night stages at the end of the day. However, one of them had to be canceled for security reasons. The second day was followed by four tests with a length of 73.78 kilometers. A total of eleven special stages with a length of 167.52 kilometers were held on asphalt roads. 35 starters from the IRC and 41 from the Spanish championship took part in the rally.

After the first special stage, Guy Wilks led briefly . Then drove Jan Kopecký several personal bests and took the lead, which he kept until the end of the first day. The lead over his pursuers Freddy Loix , Thierry Neuville and Juho Hänninen was only a few seconds. On the second day Neuville took the lead until he lost it to Hänninen in the next test. Then there was a close duel between the Škoda drivers Kopecký and Hänninen for the overall victory, which Hänninen won with just under 1.5 seconds. Neuville was third, 8.2 seconds back.

In the ranking of the Spanish championship, Miguel Fuster won ahead of Bruno Magalhães and Xavier Pons .
