Shake down

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In rallying, a so-called shake down is understood to mean the completion of certain special stages previously determined by the rally management before the start of the actual rally. A shake down can be compared to a warm-up before a Formula 1 Grand Prix.

The drivers are already traveling at almost racing speed and are allowed to drive the route as often as they want in a certain time window in order to adjust the vehicle to the route.

A shake down usually takes place one day before the start of the first special stage of a stage . In contrast to a Formula 1 qualifying , the outcome of a shake down is insignificant for the starting grid.
