Prime Yalta Rally 2011
The Prime Yalta Rally 2011 was the fourth round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge 2011 . The rally took place from June 2-4, 2011.
background
The Prime Yalta Rally was part of the IRC calendar for the first time in 2011. The paddock was in Yalta on the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea . The program consisted of 14 special stages , two of them on the first day and six each on the following two days. In total, the rally ran over 459.74 kilometers, of which 261.87 were classified. We drove on paved roads. 43 starters took part in the rally, including 15 with Super 2000 vehicles. 24 teams reached the goal.
course
On the first day, Thierry Neuville took the lead in a Peugeot. Škoda driver Juho Hänninen received a 10-second time penalty for an early start and fell back slightly as a result.
Neuville extended his lead at the beginning of the second day. On SS4 Andreas Mikkelsen , Per-Gunnar Andersson and Guy Wilks were thrown back by punctures and Karl Kruuda by declining brakes. In the subsequent test, the previous leader Neuville lost more than two minutes after a spin. This resulted in a duel between Hänninen and Bryan Bouffier , who initially took the lead, but had to give it back to Hänninen a little later. The closest pursuers were already more than a minute behind by the end of the day.
On the third day the duel between Hänninen and Bouffier for victory continued. While Bouffier managed to get close to Hänninen for a few seconds in the morning, in the afternoon he pulled away again slightly. In the end, Hänninen had 11.7 seconds ahead of Bouffier and won the rally. In the battle for third place, Jan Kopecký prevailed against Mikkelsen.
With his victory, Hänninen took the lead in the championship.
