history
The very first Rally Turkey took place unofficially in 1972 with start and finish in Istanbul . This rally is the rally that was held for many years under the name Bosporus Rally. In 2000, a two-day rally around Izmir was held under the observation of the FIA . It was then decided to include the Rally Turkey as a world championship run. In 2003, the first Rally Turkey started despite controversial discussions about the weather conditions in the mountains of Anatolia . After six world championship rounds, the rally was suspended for the time being after the 2010 staging. In 2018, the rally will return as a World Championship run.
