The Rally Japan was the 10th round of the 2010 World Rally Championship . The 26 special stages were held on gravel roads. The rally took place from 9 to 12 September 2010 and the rally base was located near Sapporo .

Race report

Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) won the second WRC rally this season and the second in his career. Petter Solberg (Citroën) led the rally for a long time, but had to let Ogier go on Sunday afternoon because of a broken shock absorber on the 23rd special stage. Until then, the two competitors were almost on a par in terms of time. Third place went to Jari-Matti Latvala . The Ford driver fought his way back up after a damage to the drive shaft that pushed him back from first to fifth position on Saturday afternoon. With four stages to go, he caught up with Dani Sordo (Citroën), who had been third up to that point. Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) could not cope with the Japanese gravel roads and finally reached the goal, 53.3 seconds behind, in fifth place. In view of his lead of 43 points over Ogier, Loeb should hardly be able to take the seventh world title in a row.

In the S2000 class (SWRC) Jari Ketomaa won and came in ninth overall, one place ahead of Martin Prokop . Patrick Flodin had an easy time with the production vehicles (PWRC) after Toshi Arai had already retired on Friday after an accident.
