Federico Villagra (born May 21, 1969 ) is an Argentine rally driver . He is currently driving for Munchi's Ford World Rally Team in the World Rally Championship .
Career
Motocross
At the age of ten, Villagra began his motorsport career with motocross racing. In 1997 he took part in a first Argentine rally event with his brother Javier. In the same year he made his debut in the WRC , at the world championship run in his home country and came third in the F2 class.
Rallying
He was the Argentine rally champion for seven years in a row, from 2001 to 2005 in class N4, in 2006 and 2007 in class N.
In 2007 he was signed by Munchi's Ford World Rally Team. At the Rally Japan he finished seventh overall that year and thus achieved his first world championship points. In the 2008 season he contested a total of ten rallies in the WRC and achieved one seventh and two sixth places.
In the 2008 season he contested ten WRC races and achieved four points. At the Rallye Jordan and the Rallye Sardinia Villagra achieved its best results with sixth places overall. In 2009 he was again Argentine rally champion. In the 2009 World Rally Championship he took part in eight races. There he managed twice, finishing fourth overall at his home rally and the Rally Greece . In Sardinia he had to stop the rally because of his acutely ill co-driver, but came in the top eight in all other World Championship races started and finished the season in ninth place. In 2010 he achieved the same final position in the World Championship and the next title in the Argentine Rally Championship. In the 2011 World Rally Championship , he switched to the Ford Fiesta RS World Rally Car and continued to compete for the Munchis Ford WRT. Villagra started the season at the 2011 Rally Mexico , where he finished ninth. Improved in Portugal to eighth place overall. He finished seventh at the 2011 Rally Jordan and achieved his best result of the season with sixth place at his home rally this year . In Greece an engine failure prevented him from reaching the finish line. In his seventh and final WRC start this year, he finished 18th and finished the World Championship 13th on the World Championship table. He won the Argentine rally championship for the tenth time in 2011.
