Race report

Sébastien Loeb , who had already won the World Championship title at the last World Championship round in France , celebrated his 61st career WRC victory in Catalonia. He won ahead of Petter Solberg and Dani Sordo (all Citroën). Ford could no longer compete for podium places. Jari-Matti Latvala crossed the finish line in fourth, over a minute behind Loeb. Mikko Hirvonen repeatedly struggled with technical problems. Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) was classified in tenth place after an accident.

In the JWRC it was exciting until the last day. Aaron Burkart ran off the road in the first special stage of the second day. After a repair, he was able to continue driving. Before the Rally Catalonia, he was seven points ahead of Hans Weijs junior . On the 13th special stage, Weijs jun. the lead after Yeray Lemes lost time. Weijs was on course for the title. At this point, Burkart was well behind in fifth place in the JWRC ranking. The tide turned on the penultimate test. Weijs stopped with a technical defect and lost over eleven minutes. He was still able to bring the car to the finish line, but he had dropped to third place, while Burkart improved to fourth. Nothing changed in the order. Aaron Burkart won the JWRC World Rally Championship title.
