Reports

Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle in the Citroën DS3 WRC

Day 1 (Friday, November 13th)

The 2015 World Rally Championship season finale got off to a good start for Sébastien Ogier ( Volkswagen ) . The three-time world champion led the rally after the first day in rain and fog. In third place team mate Andreas Mikkelsen . Citroën works driver Kris Meeke , who won the fourth special stage, claimed second place . In all other special stages Ogier dominated, he set five best times on Friday. Meeke showed a good performance but didn't think about winning. A good result would be important for Citroën as they were only four points ahead of the third-placed Hyundai team in the Manufacturers' World Championship.

The rally came to an early end for Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen). The three-time winner of the season and currently runner-up in the World Championship got off the track on the second special stage and got stuck in a depression next to the road. He can start again on Saturday under the Rally 2 regulations .

Mads Østberg (Citroën) had a solid day and held fourth place. Despite a spin, Dani Sordo is the best Hyundai driver in fifth. Team-mate Hayden Paddon's hydraulics failed in the afternoon. Nevertheless, Paddon is in seventh place in the evening. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) was once again unlucky, tearing off his left rear wheel in SS3.

Day 2 (Saturday, November 14th)

Sébastien Ogier had everything under control during the nine special stages on Saturday. His best time in SS15 was also Volkswagen's 500th in the World Rally Championship. In the overall standings, Ogier was leading with 35.7 seconds ahead of Citroën works driver Kris Meeke before the final Sunday . The service was extremely difficult for the driver to assess. Sometimes there was thick fog on the special stages, rain made the gravel roads muddy and slippery. Meeke's team-mate Mads Østberg slipped into the ditch in the eleventh special stage and fell back to eighth place. Meeke then slowed down a bit and managed the lead over third-placed Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen / +24.7) in the afternoon and in the two night stages.

Behind the podium there was a close three-way battle for fourth place. After Østberg slipped off the road, it turned into a duel between Ott Tänak (Ford) and Dani Sordo (Hyundai). Tänak prevailed and won the 13th special stage, which was 2.06 kilometers long. His lead over Sordo was 14.7 seconds before the final day.

There were problems again at Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen), he retired in the morning due to technical problems. Thierry Neuville started the day with two best times, but then he overturned dangerously in the 11th special stage. Neuville and co-driver Nicolas Gilsoul were unharmed. The car's roll cage was damaged in the accident and the Hyundai duo had to end the rally for good.

3rd day (Sunday, November 15th)

Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen) won nine of the 19 special stages in Wales and controlled everything from the start. Kris Meeke was 26 seconds behind at the finish. With second place he secured Citroën second place in the manufacturers' world championship ahead of Hyundai . Andreas Mikkelsen completed the podium . However, this third place was not enough for Jari-Matti Latvala , who won the power stage (SS19), to compete for the vice world championship. The decision about fourth place was made on Sunday morning in the 16th special stage. Ott Tänak retired due to an accident, which meant that Sordo could safely take fourth place.
