The Hyundai i20 WRC is a World Rally Car (WRC) from Hyundai , for use in the 2014 World Rally Championship . It is based on the Hyundai i20 compact car and was unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. With the Hyundai i20 WRC, Hyundai marks the return to the World Rally Championship after a ten-year absence. The car made its first compulsory appearance at the 2014 Monte Carlo Rally . The car is built and maintained by Hyundai Motorsport , based in Alzenau . The 2014 World Rally Championship is contested by drivers Thierry Neuville , Juho Hänninen , Chris Atkinson , Hayden Paddon and Dani Sordo for the official Hyundai Shell World Rally Team .
