The Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC , also known as the Hyundai New Generation i20 WRC , is a World Rally Car built by Hyundai for use in the World Rally Championship . The car was first used in the 2017 World Rally Championship . It was based on the Hyundai i20 WRC rally car used in 2014 and 2015 .
In the 2017 season, Thierry Neuville , Hayden Paddon , Daniel Sordo and Andreas Mikkelsen drove the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. In the 2018 season, Craig Breen and Sébastien Loeb joined them. The most successful with the car was Thierry Neuville, who won four times and was on the podium eight times. He finished second in the drivers 'standings in the 2017 season. He also won three rallies in the 2018 season, but again it was only enough for second place in the drivers' standings.
The sponsor for the car is Shell Helix Ultra. The racing team that uses the Hyundai is called Hyundai Motorsport .
Technical specifications
The car has a four-cylinder in-line petrol engine with turbocharging and direct injection. The engine has an output of 280 kW (381 hp). The torque is transmitted to the ground via a sequential gearbox with six gears and four-wheel drive . For this purpose, shift paddles and a front and rear differential lock are installed in the car . The Hyundai brakes with ventilated Brembo brakes, which have a diameter of 370 mm on asphalt and a diameter of 300 mm on gravel. The tires are provided by Michelin .
