Craig Breen (born February 2, 1990 in Waterford ) is a rally driver from Ireland .
Career
Craig Breen started his karting career in Ireland in 1999. He got into rallying in 2007 and also drove the national kart championship.
From 2009, Breen concentrated entirely on rallying. He competed in the Irish, British and international Fiesta Sport Trophies . He won all three championships. He then received a contract with M-Sport , which secured him starts in the national junior series. In the same year he started in the WRC with a Ford Fiesta ST and a Ford Fiesta R2 .
In 2010, Breen debuted in a Ford Fiesta S2000 in the British Rally Championship and Irish Tarmac Rally Championship . He won the Ulster International Rally and was second overall in the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship . Breen drove the rallies in Turkey , Finland and Great Britain , where he finished second in the SWRC class.
For 2012, Breen had registered again for the SWRC class. With a Ford Fiesta S2000 he won the Monte Carlo Rally , Great Britain and Spain , he won the championship with 118 points. The low point in Craig Breen's career followed at the Targa Florio Rally in Sicily , the fifth round of the 2012 Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC). Co-driver Gareth Roberts succumbed to serious injuries after a violent accident in a guardrail.
In 2013, Breen and co-driver Paul Nagle signed with Peugeot. As members of the Peugeot Rally Academy , the duo achieved five podiums and they were third in the ERC at the end of the season . Paul Nagle then became Andreas Mikkelsen's co-driver . In the following year, Breen came third in the ERC championship, and in 2015 he finished second.
At the same time, he drove in the WRC2 in 2015 . Breen showed his talent with a second place in the Monte Carlo Rally and a third place in Great Britain . In 2014 and 2015, Scott Martin was the majority in the front passenger seat.
In addition to Kris Meeke , Stéphane Lefebvre and Khalid Al Qassimi , Craig Breen is also registered for the Abu Dhabi Total WR Team ( Citroën DS3 WRC ). The drivers named take turns to contest world championship races in the top rally class WRC in 2016 .
