The Rally Poland was the eighth World Championship run in 2009. Since 1973, a World Rally Championship run (WRC) has been held in Poland for the first time . The rally consisted of 18 special stages on gravel roads and was driven between June 25th and 28th.

Race report

Ford driver Mikko Hirvonen had taken the lead in the world championship. The Finn won the Rally Poland, where the Ford team could even have won a double. Hirvonen's second-placed team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala retired in the last special stage after a driving error. Dani Sordo (Citroën) finished second after a solid performance. Sébastien Loeb fell back to 33rd place after an accident on Friday morning. After repairs to the car, he began to catch up for two days and finished seventh. Loeb thus won two world championship points in the drivers' championship and four points for Citroën in the manufacturers’ world championship, where Citroën is still in the lead. Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) could have finished third again. Ogier retired on Sunday afternoon due to an engine problem. Henning Solberg (Ford) thus climbed onto the podium in third place.
