The 59th Rally Finland was the ninth FIA - world championship run 2009 . The rally consisted of 23 special stages and was driven between July 30th and August 2nd.

Race report

At the finish, Mikko Hirvonen (Ford) had a 25.1 second lead over World Championship rival Sébastien Loeb (Citroën), who finished second. Hirvonen was able to extend the lead he had won in Poland in the Drivers' Championship. The Finn was now three points ahead of defending champion Loeb. Loeb had a puncture and after that he didn't attack Hirvonen anymore, but instead secured second place. Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford) finished the rally in third place, 24.8 seconds behind Loeb .

In the World Youth Championship (JWRC) in Finland the title decision has already been made. Martin Prokop (Citroën) won the rally and thus secured the title early.
