Lorenzo Bertelli (born May 10, 1988 ) is an Italian rally driver . Lorenzo is the son of Patrizio and Miuccia Bertelli (née Prada), the owners of the luxury fashion brand Prada .

Career

Lorenzo Bertelli started his rally career in Italy in 2010 and made his debut in Spain in the World Rally Championship (WRC) the following year . In 2012 he played a full PWRC season . In the Rally Spain and the Rally Argentina he finished fifth and was classified in tenth place overall. He was behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Subaru Impreza .

In 2013 Bertelli tackled the WRC2 World Championship in a Subaru Impreza with co-driver Lorenzo Granai . A change during the season to Ford to the Fiesta WRC model and the new co-driver Mitia Dotta had an effect. Bertelli finished third on sardines, his best result to date in a rally.

In 2014 he drove his best season so far. Four podiums and his first class win at the Rally Sardinia meant third place in the WRC2 World Championship at the end of the season . At the same rally, Bertelli won the first two world championship points in the WRC , as he finished ninth in the overall standings.

A season in WRC2 was actually planned for 2015 . Since Bertelli is to be integrated into the Prada group in the foreseeable future, he decided to take on the challenge in the top rally class, the WRC. The 2015 results will have a major impact on his plans for 2016. The co-driver is Giovanni Bernacchini, previously in the passenger seat of Nasser Al-Attiyah , with whom he became WRC2 world champion in 2014.
