Jari-Matti Latvala completed the 3.86 kilometers on gravel in 3: 12.65 minutes, faster than anyone else, he chose 13th place on the grid for the rally start on Friday.
Day 1 (Friday, June 21)
Some dramas already happened in the first exams. In the very first special stage, Jari-Matti Latvala lost a lot of time due to a puncture. Evgeny Novikov rolled over in the second special stage and stayed on the roof. For the duo Novikov / Minor the rally was already over. Sébastien Ogier had no problems . He finished the day with a lead of 46.6 seconds over Hirvonen. Ford drivers Neuville and Østberg fought for third place. Neuville claimed third place because he won two special stages. The two night stages went to Latvala in a VW Polo R WRC. He was now in fifth place and only 24.6 seconds behind Sordo. Mikko Hirvonen , Dani Sordo and Thierry Neuville drove for places 2 to 4 . Hirvonen was the fastest and kept Neuville at a distance of 6.2 seconds. At the beginning Mads Østberg also mixed for the places, but after a rollover in the eighth special stage, the rally was over for him.
Day 2 (Saturday, June 22nd)
Hirvonen set the fastest time in the ninth special stage. However, he made a driving mistake and landed in the ditch in the following special stage, also after a rollover. Neuville slipped up to second place. Latvala put more and more pressure on and overtook Sordo in third place. He didn't catch up with Thierry Neuville until the end of the day. In the power stage, Ogier scored three additional points for the world championship, Neuville two and Latvala came third. Ogier controlled the rally on the last day and won by 1: 16.8 minutes ahead of Thierry Neuville. Robert Kubica (Citroën DS3 RRC) also won the WRC-2 class standings in Sardinia . Sepp Wiegand had to give up on Friday after a technical defect on the Škoda Fabia S2000.
