Reports
Day 1 (Thursday, October 3)
Dani Sordo was the fastest in the shakedown, while Sébastien Ogier and Sébastien Loeb finished fifth and sixth. The first special stage was also the power stage , in which there were again 3-2-1 world championship points to be won. Sordo won the special stage, followed by Neuville and Ogier. This one World Championship point made Ogier World Champion and it was the first time in the history of the World Rally Championship that a power stage brought the World Championship decision.
Day 2 (Friday, October 4th)
After three SS wins, Sébastien Loeb took the lead in the overall standings. When it started to rain, the record world champion showed an impeccable performance at his farewell rally. After the best times in the afternoon, Ford Fiesta driver Thierry Neuville came out on top and kept it until Saturday. Loeb (Citroën DS3 WRC) lost 4.6 seconds on the drying road. Behind them, Sordo (Citroën DS3 WRC) and Ogier (VW-Polo R WRC) came in third and fourth.
3rd day (Saturday, October 5th)
Neuville was able to maintain the lead on Saturday morning. In the afternoon he lost it in special stage 11 due to a puncture. Now Sordo, Latvala, Loeb and Ogier were fighting for victory in Alsace . In SS 14 Jari-Matti Latvala (VW-Polo R WRC) overtook Dani Sordo and was fastest of the day and overall leader in the standings.
4th day (Sunday, October 6th)
Loeb retired in the 15th evaluation test. He flew off the road on a wet road and landed on the roof. Loeb and copilot Daniel Elena were able to get out of the destroyed car unharmed. On Sunday, Ogier had the rally best under control and he took the lead from Dani Sordo, team-mate Latvala and Neuville. With first and third place, Volkswagen collected 40 points for the manufacturers' championship. At the coming World Championship round, VW can already win the world championship title on its own.
