Detlef Gosselck

Detlef Gosselck (born July 13, 1940 in Mecklenburg ; † November 14, 2013 near Trebbin ) was a German art teacher , painter , gallery owner , author and art forger .

Life

Detlef Gosselck was born in 1940. After graduating from school, he studied art and also worked as a freelance painter. Detlef Gosselck wanted to become a teacher . In the 1950s he studied at the Institute for Teacher Education . With an agitprop group he moved across the country to advertise in the villages for the LPG accession. When he saw how peasants opposed to joining the cooperative were being dealt with, he had doubts about the party . In 1961 he moved from the GDR to West Berlin , where he studied at the Berlin University of Education from 1961 to 1964 . In his work as an art teacher, he was also director of studies at the European Academy in Berlin . After his retirement, Gosselck was the owner of the Art.Dego gallery in Berlin-Schöneberg . He also worked regularly as an auctioneer at art auctions, which occasionally included pictures by the painter Lou Albert-Lasard, who died in 1969 and who lived and worked in Berlin in the first half of the 20th century . In November 2013 it became known that Gosselck had made over 100 pictures by this painter himself in the years from 2003, provided them with a copied estate stamp and channeled them onto the international art market. The criminal police suspect damage of around 100,000 euros.

According to press reports, the 73-year-old Gosselck went to a forest near Trebbin after a full confession, which he made to the Berlin Criminal Police on November 14th, where he was found dead on November 17th, 2013.
