Donald Peck

Donald Peck is an American flautist.

Peck was a flautist with the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra , the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra , the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington , the United States Marine Band and the Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra . In 1957 he became a member and in 1958 principal flautist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra . He held this position until his retirement in 1999, during which time he worked under conductors such as Fritz Reiner , Jean Martinon , Sir Georg Solti and Daniel Barenboim . He also taught flute at DePaul University . He described his experiences with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in the book The Right Place, The Right Time !: Tales of Chicago Symphony Days , published in 2007 by Indiana University Press .
