The 47th Rally Portugal lasted from April 11 to 14, 2013. A total of 15 special stages were driven on gravel.

Reports

Qualification (Thursday April 11th)

Dani Sordo won the qualification ahead of Sébastien Ogier . Sordo was the first to choose his starting number for the first special stage on Friday, he starts 13th.

Day 1 (Friday, April 12th)

Ogier won the first special stage (20.3 km) and the second special stage (18.3 km) went to Mads Østberg with 3.9 seconds ahead of Ogier and 10.3 seconds ahead of Sordo. The gravel roads were partly damp and the choice of tires was not easy. Ogier had put on four soft tires. The Ford drivers Østberg and Novikov used the hard tires, as did the Citroën drivers Mikko Hirvonen and Dani Sordo. The VW drivers and Ogier teammates, Andreas Mikkelsen and Jari-Matti Latvala , also opted for the harder tire compound. Mads Østberg overturned in the third special stage and had to give up the rally, Ogier took the overall lead. Dani Sordo was the fastest in special stages 3 and 4, but Ogier was still the day's winner with 2.4 seconds of credit.

Day 2 (Saturday, April 13th)

The sixth special stage began turbulent. First Thierry Neuville hit a tree, the suspension broke on the Ford Fiesta and shortly afterwards Dani Sordo stopped because of a technical problem. Ogier and Latvala controlled the rally and were in the lead.

3rd day (Sunday, April 14th)

Although Ogier repeatedly had technical problems (clutch) on the third day of the rally, he was able to maintain the lead. The Polo R WRC from Latvala had gearbox problems and he lost a lot of time. Hirvonen took second place. Evgeny Novikov was fourth, as on Saturday, Nasser Al-Attiyah was fifth. That was also the name of the final classification.
