Race report

Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) had clinched his second win within a week in Corsica. Loeb replaced his rival in the drivers' world championship Marcus Grönholm (Ford) at the top on Friday afternoon . In the course of the rally, Loeb was able to continuously expand its lead. At the finish, after 16 special stages, he had a lead of 23.7 seconds over Grönholm as the winner. The leader in the drivers' championship Grönholm had taken the lead at the beginning of the rally, but then had to admit defeat to Loeb, who was a little faster. The two opponents fought a duel at the limit, with Grönholm losing some time from stage to stage. On Saturday evening, Grönholm was satisfied with second place and safely finished the special stages on Sunday.

Third place went to Loeb's team-mate Dani Sordo . Although he had planned to cross the finish line before Grönholm, he could not follow him. In the end, Sordo was 20.6 seconds behind Grönholm and 44.3 seconds behind the winner Loeb.
