The 4th Sardinia Rally (also known as Rally Italy ) was the seventh of 16 FIA World Championship races in 2007. The rally consisted of 18 special stages and was held between May 18th and 20th.

Race report

On Saturday evening, Marcus Grönholm (Ford) no longer had high hopes for victory. After a few technical problems, Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) drove away by over 36 seconds. On Sunday the tide turned in Grönholm's favor. After a spin, Loeb got stuck in the ditch and was eliminated. In the drivers' world championship table, too, Grönholm overtook Loeb again and was now in the lead with seven points.

Mikko Hirvonen , who won a total of three special stages, made the Ford one-two perfect. He helped Ford to a second one-two of the current season. In the manufacturers' championship, Ford was able to extend its lead over Citroën to 20 points. In the drivers' championship, Hirvonen remained third, four points behind Loeb.

Third place was contested to the end. Citroën driver Dani Sordo was able to successfully defend this in a duel against Henning Solberg (Ford). In the last special stage, Sordo was second fastest behind Hirvonen, Solberg slowed down a bit and finished tenth, giving Sordo a 14.8 second lead in the end.
