successes

Nathalie Moellhausen is the daughter of a Brazilian and a German-Italian and therefore has both Brazilian and Italian citizenship. At the age of 18, she joined the Centro Sportivo dell'Aeronautica Militare of the Italian Air Force .

Under the Italian flag, winning the 2009 World Cup in Antalya with the team was their greatest success. In addition, she won the individual World Championships in Paris in 2010 and bronze with the team in Catania in 2011 . She had already become European champion with the team in Gent in 2007 , followed by silver in Leipzig in 2009 . In 2011 she won the bronze medal in Sheffield . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , she was only used in the team competition and took seventh place with the Italian team. After the games, she took a break from competition in order to concentrate more on her career outside of sports.

In January 2014, she announced her comeback under the Brazilian flag. Since the Brazilian federation did not have an epee fencer in the top 100 of the world rankings at the time, Moellhausen promised great opportunities to take part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . She also succeeded in qualifying and reached the quarter-finals in the individual games. Before that, she had won bronze in singles and with the team at the 2015 Pan-American Games in Toronto , among other things , and in the same year she was the Pan-American champion in singles in Santiago de Chile . At the Pan American Championships, further medal wins followed from 2016 to 2019. Moellhausen achieved the greatest success of her career in 2019 at the World Championships in Budapest when she won the title after beating Lin Sheng in the final 13:12 . Shortly thereafter, she secured bronze at the Pan American Games in Lima .

Moellhausen is married to an Italian. She studied philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris.
