Tímea Nagy
Tímea Nagy [ ˈtiːmɛ.ɒ ˈnɒɟ ] (born August 22, 1970 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian sword - fencer , two-time Olympic champion and six-time world champion.
Sporting successes
Tímea Nagy won the world championships in 1992 , 1993 , 1995 , 1997 and 1999 with the team . In 1995 she became individual European champion in Keszthely . Nagy won the gold medal in singles at the 2006 World Fencing Championships in Turin against the Estonian Irina Embrich .
At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta Nagy finished fourth with the team and fifth in the individual. In 2000 in Sydney she won the gold medal on September 17th against the Swiss Gianna Hablützel-Bürki . Four years later, the left-hander could repeat the triumph and won at the 2004 Summer Olympics from Athens gold medal in epee individual against the Frenchwoman Laura Flessel-Colovic .
Nagy has three children.
Awards
Nagy was elected Sportswoman of the Year in Hungary in 2006.
