Wolf-Rüdiger Eisentraut (born December 1, 1943 in Chemnitz ) is a German architect .

Life

After graduating from high school, Eisentraut trained as a bricklayer from 1962 to 1963 and studied architecture at the Technical University of Dresden from 1963 to 1968 . At the same time, he acquired the teaching qualification to train engineers. After completing his studies, he first worked in Hermann Henselmann's experimental workshop . Until 1972 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Residential and Social Buildings of the German Building Academy , where he was involved in designs by Henselmann, among other things.

Heinz Graffunder then brought Eisentraut into the design office of the Bau- und Montagekombinat Ingenieur-Hochbau Berlin (BMK IHB). From 1973 to 1976 he was involved in the project planning for the Palace of the Republic and was the architect responsible for its central section. Until 1988 he was department head or area manager at BMK IHB, where he worked for Berlin, among other things, various industrial buildings, the cinema “Soyuz” , the department store “Am Springpfuhl”, the trading house and library in Hohenschönhausen , the restaurant “Seeterrassen” in Lichtenberg and various buildings in Marzahn (main center with train station , cultural center, town hall , ring colonnade). He succeeded in realizing individual concepts from the limited product range of the GDR's construction industry .

Eisentraut received his doctorate in 1984 from the Technical University of Dresden and in 1986 became honorary professor for social structure. Also in 1986 he became a corresponding member of the Bauakademie. After obtaining his PhD B , which was converted into a habilitation in 1991 , Eisentraut taught from 1988 to 1996 as an associate professor for social construction in the architecture section and from 1991 in the field of building theory and design in the architecture faculty of the Technical University of Dresden. In 1990 he became the last president of the Association of Architects of the GDR . He has been running his own architecture and planning office since 1991.
