Anton Rodgers

Anthony "Anton" Rodgers (born January 10, 1933 in Wisbech , † December 1, 2007 in Reading ) was a British actor .

Life

Anton Rodgers began his film and television career in the late 1950s in British motion pictures and television productions. In the 1960s, his cinema appearances were mostly limited to smaller roles. He played several times in films by Gerald Thomas , including two films from the carry-on series. Other well-known films of this time in which he was involved were Agents Die Alone , A Man Chases Himself , The Jackal and Scrooge . In Scrooge he sang the song Thank You Very Much , which was nominated for an Oscar .

In the second half of the 1980s and the first half of the 1990s, he played several major roles, such as The Fourth Protocol , Two Ravishingly Corrupted Villains, and The Son of the Pink Panther . Overall, Rodgers acted in more than 25 films; on television he impersonated more than 60 roles. He could be heard as a narrator in the children's series Old Bear Stories . One of his last roles was that of CS Lewis in a BBC documentary about the writer. In addition to film work, Rodgers also played theater. His greatest role was that of Mackie Messer in the Threepenny Opera at the Stratford Festival in Canada.

Rodgers' son from his first marriage (two children) is the cameraman Adam Rodgers, in his second marriage he was married to the almost 25 years younger actress Elizabeth Garvie , with whom he had three children.
