It's crazy - the ship's cook is seasick (in the original also with the alternative title Carry On Captain ) is the sixth film in the series of carry-on ... films .

content

Captain Crowther managed to work his way up from the bottom all by himself. And now he has the chance to become the captain of a new liner. All he has to do is make this one cruise without any problems. Unfortunately, on this trip, of all places, half a dozen new employees are put in front of his nose. The overzealous First Officer Majorbanks, the lovesick ship's doctor Binn, the seasick ship's cook Haines, a new bartender who doesn't even know the recipe for the captain's savior, and two new stewards who are only partially qualified. Although the new crew members try hard (or because of that?), They slide from one disaster to the next.

Remarks

The sixth film in the series is the first color film in the series. In the plot it is a little reminiscent of the first film Head up, chest out! : A man in an important position gets a new, overzealous, but rather unsuitable crew on his last assignment in his function and has to make the best of it.

In addition, for the second and last time, after Not so great, Süßer, there is a second director , because the brother of regular director Gerald Thomas , Ralph Thomas, is involved in the film. And you can definitely feel his handwriting. Even if the films were very adorable before, he takes the films to a new, technically better level, as he was already more experienced, not least with the successful doctoral films . In addition, a lot is reminiscent of his own film Doctor Ahoi! ( Doctor at Sea , 1955 , with Dirk Bogarde , Brigitte Bardot , James Robertson Justice and Maurice Denham ), in which Cyril Chamberlain and other carry-on ... stars appear ( Joan Hickson and Joan Sims , who, however, appear in this part of the Carry-on ... series are not included).

Charles Hawtrey did not appear in this film for the first time, and it is also the last film by screenwriter Norman Hudis .

The film ran in 1982 under the title Do not fall in love with the blue sea on GDR television .

Reviews

  • “The crew is new on the cruise liner, but the jokes are unimaginative and old. Wooden hammer joke for the undemanding. ”(Rating: 1½ stars = moderate) - Adolf Heinzlmeier and Berndt Schulz in the dictionary“ Films on TV ” (extended new edition).
