The Mad Queen of the Amazons is the 19th installment in the Carry-On film series and a parody of adventure films from the 1950s and 1960s.
content
Professor Inigo Tinkle leads an expedition through the African jungle to find the rare oozlum bird (it is so rare because it cannot find its own eggs). All participants have their own reasons for participating in this mission, including the hunter Bill Boosey, who keeps tossing his little bottle of whiskey , and Lady Bagley. During their search, they meet Jungle Boy, who Lady Bagley believes is her long-lost son - but not only that. Her husband, who had long been believed to be missing, also appears again - as the only man among the amazons . And they are happy to finally get their hands on a few new men again.
Remarks
- The film primarily parodies classic films such as those about Tarzan , King Kong, and the Amazon myth. The result was a wild, sometimes very humorous hunt, but without inner unity. It has not become a classic in the series.
- The word Up in the original title refers to the competition series Up films , which was a plagiarism of the carry-on films. Up-star Frankie Howerd has his second appearance in a carry-on film here.
- For Kenneth Connor it was the first appearance in a carry-on film since the tenth film in the series, It's Crazy - Caesar Loves Cleopatra (1964).
- Joan Sims , who plays the mother of Jungle Boy , is three years younger than Jungle Boy actor Terry Scott in real life .
- Originally the film was supposed to be called Carry on Tarzan , however the rights to the name Tarzan could not be acquired by producer Peter Rogers . So they created the jungle boy without further ado .
