Terry Scott (born May 4, 1927 in Watford , Hertfordshire , † July 26, 1994 in Godalming , Surrey ; actually Owen John Scott ) was a British actor and comedian .

biography

Scott played smaller roles at the local Watford Amateur Dramatic Society as a student , where he developed an affinity for the comic subject. During the Second World War he stopped acting and fought in the Royal Navy .

After the end of the war he started a career as an actor and producer with his own resources. As a comedian, he has appeared on radio and television programs, e. B. 1949 next to Bob Monkhouse at the BBC . His first major television success was the comedy series Great Scott, it's Maynard , in which he performed skits with Bill Maynard .

1969 began his extremely successful collaboration with June Whitfield while with Scott on… . Both played the leading roles in the comedy series Happy Ever After (1974–1978) and then in Terry and June (1979–1987), which became one of the most successful weekly shows in the country at peak times with almost 15 million viewers.

Scott made his first film appearance in the Terry Thomas comedy Blue Murder at St Trinian's . At first he was seen in feature films mainly in prominent supporting roles, such as B. in Young man from a good house , Too many crooks (both again with Terry-Thomas in the leading role), Oh, you dear father!
