Premiere Elements [ pri-ˈmyer ˈe-lə-mənts ] is video editing software that is specially tailored for home use. Premiere Elements is the smaller brother of Adobe Premiere , from which many technical functions have been taken over. Premiere Elements, however, has a different user interface , which is intended to make the functions of interest to beginners easy to find without offering too few functions to advanced users. The software is available for Windows XP , from version 3.0.2 also for Windows Vista and Windows 7 . As of version 9, the packaging contains two separate DVDs for the Mac OS X version.

Similar programs in the segment are z. B. Magix Movie Edit Pro , Pinnacle Studio , Corel VideoStudio etc.

Functions

The basic functions include video editing (also in HD ), audio editing, numerous video effects, various transitions , effects (e.g. for color correction and blue / green screen ), the possibility of creating DVD or Blu-Ray menus (also DVD authoring ) and other useful aids such as the creation of texts, etc. In addition, the software can open or read in numerous video formats such as AVCHD , MPEG , MOV and AVI and also save them in different video formats.

user interface

The surface of the program is oriented towards the needs of video editing beginners and consists of dockable windows. The most important are:

  • Monitor (preview of the edited film with buttons for playing and pausing as well as a "shuttle" for fast forward and rewind)
  • My project (time bar with the audio and video clips inserted in the project on an adjustable number of audio and video tracks)
  • Tasks (window with the tabs “Organize” (inserting video clips into the project), “Edit” (effects, transitions , titles and clip art ), “Disc Menus” (inserting DVD or BD menus) and “Share” (saving of the film), from which elements can be dragged and dropped onto the "My Project" window)
