Valerie Leon (born November 12, 1943 or 1945 in London ) is an English actress .

Life

Valerie Leon was born in Islington, London, the eldest of four children of a textile manufacturer and an acting teacher. The mother gave up her job to devote herself entirely to raising her children. After completing school, Valerie Leon began training at the well-known Harrods department store . After attending a casting, she became a revue dancer, which led to her taking part in the performance of the musical Funny Girl with Barbra Streisand .

Her first television role she played in 1967 in an episode of the television series Simon Templar on the side of Roger Moore . Many smaller roles followed in well-known television series such as Die 2 and Mit Schirm, Charme and Melone . Valerie Leon is also known in Great Britain for her appearances in numerous television commercials, especially the one for Hai Karate After Shave , which was broadcast every Christmas from 1969 to 1975.

Leon has appeared in six films in the Carry-on… film series and in two James Bond films , namely The Spy Who Loved Me and Never Say Never . Her better-known supporting roles include appearances as Tanya in Inspector Clouseau - The crazy Flic with the hot look , as a receptionist in Charlie dusts off millions and as a call girl in Please don't have sex, we're British . One of her rare leading roles was played by Valerie Leon in 1971 as the reborn Egyptian princess in the horror film The Tomb of the Bloody Mummy by the production company Hammer . According to Leon, the nude scene in this film was recorded with a body double; she herself never appeared naked in a film.

Valerie Leon also played numerous roles in the theater, e.g. For example, in Do it again, Sam from Woody Allen , Darling Mr. London alongside David Jason , Agatha Christie's Black Coffee and Dracula .

Valerie Leon is a cult figure among film lovers because she has worked in three major British film franchises : James Bond , Carry on and a hammer film .

Leon was married to Michael Mills, who was responsible for comedy at the BBC , from 1974 until his death in 1988 . They had two children. The son Leon was born in 1975, the daughter Merope in 1977.

Since 2009 Valerie Leon has been giving illustrated lectures about her life and career in Spain, the UK and on cruise ships.
