Scrooge is a musical film adaptation from 1970, based on the book A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens .

Ebenezer Scrooge is a rich, stingy entrepreneur who doesn't care about the wellbeing of his fellow men. At Christmas, different ghosts gradually appear to him, which show him the consequences of his actions. Scrooge begins to regret how he has lived so far. On Christmas morning he changes his life and is now generous towards his fellow human beings.

The movie was nominated in 1971 for several film awards, including four Oscars , namely for the Best Costume Design , the Best Production Design , the Best Original Score as well as Best Song . At the 1971 Academy Awards , however, the film ultimately failed to win any of the Oscars. However, Albert Finney received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in the same film year for his portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge . The film was also nominated for Best Production Design at the British Academy Film Awards in 1971 . A German DVD with the film was released in 2011.
