Lieselore Cyrus

Lieselore Cyrus (born  Lienig ; born December 1, 1951 in Wattenscheid ) is a German diplomat . From 2010 to 2014 she was ambassador to Addis Ababa ( Ethiopia ) and until 2015 ambassador to Budapest ( Hungary ).

Life

After graduating from high school (1970), Cyrus studied psychology in Bochum (1970–1973) and Saarbrücken (1973–1977) and graduated in 1977 with a diploma . From 1977 to 1981 she was a research assistant at the research center for development planning at Saarland University.

In 1981, Cyrus joined the Foreign Service. After two years of preparatory service, she worked for the first time in 1983 as a press and culture advisor at the German Consulate General in Istanbul . She was then sent to the German Embassy in Paris from 1986 to 1989 as a political officer . From 1989 to 1992 Cyrus then worked as a consultant for European security and defense policy at the Foreign Office in Bonn. In 1992 she was appointed Consul General in Alexandria and held that office until 1995. From 1995 she returned to the Foreign Office in Bonn and Berlin, first as Deputy Head of the Budget Department (1995–1999), then as Head of the OSCE Department (1999–2002) and Commissioner for Stability Policy Southeast Europe (2002–2004). In 2004 she was appointed deputy head of the central department and in 2006 she was appointed director.

From 2010 to 2014 she was the successor to Claas Dieter Knoop as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Addis Ababa.

Until 2015 she was the successor of Matei Ion Hoffmann as the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Budapest.

Cyrus is married and has two children.
