Fausto Rey

Fausto Rey ( Fausto Ramón Sepúlveda ; born December 1, 1951 in Higuey ) is a Dominican singer. His repertoire ranges from romantic ballads, boleros, waltzes, salsas, merengues and bossa novas to blues and jazz. He is also considered to be one of the best guitar players in the Dominican Republic and also plays the piano and drums.

Live and act

The son of Güira player Antolín Soler grew up with his mother and a foster father. He worked as a shoe shiner and street vendor in his childhood, but was enthusiastic about music from an early age. He won numerous music competitions and founded the rock group Los Magnéticos , while at the same time he played in a group called the Brahmins in Santo Domingo .

He had his breakthrough as a musician in the early 1970s when he worked with Johnny Ventura's orchestra. This was followed by the recording of the LP La Responsabilidad with Larry Harlow and orchestra on Fania Records . He then founded his own merengue orchestra, with which he won successful titles such as El Pájaro Herido , Mi Linda Músic , De que 'e que priva Maria? Brindemos mas Amor and Se Va ma Vida produced. He was also successful with his romantic ballads.

Fausto Rey lives in New Jersey. He tours the US frequently and performs regularly in the Dominican Republic. He became the first Dominican singer to perform at the sold-out San Carlos Theater and Quisqueya Stadium , and is famous in his home country as El Niche , El Rey Negro de la Cancion Dominicana and El Baladista del Siglo . He also had television appearances in Argentina, Chile, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, Haiti, Cuba and Panama.
