François-Virgile Cardinal Dubillard (born February 16, 1845 in Soye , France , † December 1, 1914 in Chambéry ) was Archbishop of Chambéry .

Life

François-Virgile Dubillard received his theological and philosophical training in Vesoul , Besançon and Rome . He received his doctorate in Rome for the doctor of theology and received on 5 September 1869, the sacrament of Holy Orders . From 1869 to 1872 he worked in the parish pastoral care before he became professor of dogmatics and the history of dogma at the seminary of Besançon in 1872 . From 1881 to 1890 he was also the Regens chairman of this seminar . From 1890 to 1899, François-Virgile Dubillard headed the administration of the diocese of Besançon as vicar general .

On December 14, 1899, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Quimper . He was ordained episcopate on February 24, 1900 in the Cathedral of Besançon Fulbert Petit , the Archbishop of Besançon, co-consecrators were Pierre-Marie Ardin , Archbishop of Sens , and Charles Theuret , Bishop of Monaco . Pope Pius X placed him in charge of the Archdiocese of Chambéry in 1907 and accepted him into the College of Cardinals on November 27, 1911 as a cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Susanna .

François-Virgile Dubillard could not because of illness on the conclave of 1914 to participate. He died on December 1, 1914 in Chambéry and was buried in the cathedral there.
