Lobben took part for the first time for the Norwegian ski jumping team at the Junior World Championships 2000 in Štrbské Pleso in team jumping on the normal hill. The team achieved the silver medal. Thereupon he was appointed to the national team and jumped on March 12, 2000 his first World Cup competition in Oslo , which he finished in 36th place. After this one World Cup, he took a two-year break from international competitions before he started in the Continental Cup in 2002 . After three seasons in the Continental Cup, he was nominated again for the A-squad, so that on February 11th & 12th, 2005 he was used in the World Cup in Pragelato . There he finished 40th in the individual competition and 7th with the team. This was followed by more competitions in the Continental Cup, before Lobben was again on March 11, 2005 for a World Cup competition in the so-called national group. In Lillehammer he reached 42nd place on the large hill. Another Continental Cup season was followed by a successful one in the 2005/06 season , in which he was able to win a total of two competitions in Vikersund and also achieved three more top 10 placements. Since then, Lobben has been a permanent member of the Norwegian Continental Cup team and also competes in World Cup competitions in Norway.
At the end of the 2009/10 season Lobben announced the end of his career. A few months later he was promoted to the coaching team of the Norwegian national ski jumping team. Since then he has trained young athletes like Robert Johansson .
