David Jiroutek (born March 2, 1973 ) is a former Czech ski jumper and since the 2018/19 season he has been the head coach of the Czech national ski jumping team for the second time.
Jiroutek celebrated his first international success by winning the gold medal for Czechoslovakia in the team competition of the Junior World Championships in 1991 in Reit im Winkl . Together with Milan Kučera , Tomáš Goder and Roman Lukes , he won ahead of the teams from Finland and France. On March 23, 1991 he made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup with the 43rd place in ski flying in Planica . He did not win World Cup points in the following 1991/92 season either. Until 1996, Jiroutek continued to compete in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup , where he made his debut in the 1991/92 season. After he achieved his best overall result with a 33rd place in his first season, he finally ended his active career without success after the 1995/96 season.
As a result, Jiroutek completed a coaching education and took over the Czech B-team for the 2008/09 season. A year later he took over the senior national team in the World Cup for the first time as head coach. In 2014 he lost his post to the Austrian Richard Schallert . He then took over the Russian national team together with Matjaž Zupan . In 2018 he returned to the Czech Association and replaced Schallert as head coach for the 2018/19 season . The cooperation with the Czech Ski Association was ended in mid-January 2020.
His older brother Jakub Jiroutek was also active as a ski jumper and is now also a trainer.
