Sandra Hansson grew up in Bäckefors in Dalsland , where sport has always been part of her life. In addition to skiing, she was active in various sports. At the age of 16 she decided to go to Torsby to go to the sports school for cross-country skiing ( Riksskidgymnasium ), while the sports school for athletics in Karlstad was also open to her. Sporting successes were achieved. In 2000 she won with the Swedish relay at the Junior Ski World Championships in Štrbské Pleso . She also won 18 medals in Swedish championships in cross-country skiing, roller skiing, cross-country skiing and athletics.
In 2001 she fell ill with irritable bowel syndrome and was forced to give up competitive sports. She studied economics and worked as a real estate agent and bank clerk. Sandra Hansson resumed intensive training and finished fourth in the 2007 Wasa run . She won the Wasalauf in the following two years (2008, 2009). She also won the Jizera Mountains Run (2010, 2011), König-Ludwig-Lauf (2011), Tartu Maraton (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013) and Finlandia-hiihto (2011).
