Sälen is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Dalarna County and the historical province of Dalarna .

The place in the municipality of Malung-Sälen is about 65 kilometers from Malung , the main town of the municipality. It's about 40 kilometers to the Norwegian border on Riksväg 66. Sälen is a winter sports resort and starting point for the Wasa run . The first settlements on the banks of the Västerdalälven existed as early as the Middle Ages.
