Yttermalung is a place ( Småort ) in the Swedish province of Dalarnas län and the historical province of Dalarna .

The place is on Västerdalälven about twelve kilometers southeast of Malung , the central town of the municipality. Riksväg 66 runs through the village. Länsväg W 502 leads to the opposite side of Västerdalälven. Yttermalung had a train station on Västerdalsbanan , but passenger traffic has been suspended here for several years.

The population of Yttermalung is declining, so that the place lost its status as a crime scene in 2005 . When the Statistiska centralbyrån was last published in 2015, 185 inhabitants were counted. In addition to the church, there is also a primary school in Yttermalung.
