Career

Milan Šperl lives in Boží Dar and starts for the TJ Dukla Liberec . He made his debut in the World Cup in January 2000 as 68th in a 10-kilometer race in Nové Město na Moravě . In the subsequent Junior World Championships in Strbske Pleso its results were no more significant, as in the Military World Championships in 2000 in Saalfelden , 2001 in Colchester and 2002 in Kranjska Gora , the Universiade 2001 in Zakopane and the 2002 Olympic Games of Salt Lake City . He achieved his first good result as fourth at the Universiade 2003 in Tarvisio over 30 kilometers. He then took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme , but without achieving major success . In November 2003 Šperl reached in Beitostølen with the relay as ninth for the first time a top ten result in the World Cup.

In the 2003/04 season he was able to stabilize his performance at a good, but not yet outstanding level, the all-rounder achieved good results especially in the sprint. However, he only achieved his first really good result at the 2005 World Championships in Oberstdorf . Here he came in sixth place on the long 50-kilometer route and thus achieved his international breakthrough. In December 2005 he managed in Nové Město na Moravě as ninth over 15 kilometers for the first time a result in the top ten of the World Cup in an individual race. With the relay around Lukáš Bauer , Jiří Magál and Martin Koukal , he came fourth in Lago di Tesero the following month , and in November of that year in Gällivare the team was able to improve by one place. The following season he won the bronze medal with Dušan Kožíšek at the 2007 World Championships team sprint competition . In around 65 World Cup appearances, Šperl was placed under the top ten fourteen times, three times in individual competitions. He has won eight FIS races . After the 2009/2010 World Cup season , he ended his career.
