Hans Petrat , actually Johann Petrat (born September 6, 1982 in Rosenheim ) is a former German ski jumper .

Career

Petrat started winter sports at a young age. He started out as a cross-country skier and then came to ski jumping via Nordic combined . In 1992 he made his first jump from the Kahlanger ski jump in Oberaudorf . After several local successes, he moved to Oberstdorf on an offer from the coach of the B-team Andreas Bauer and attended the local sports boarding school.

In the 1999/2000 season, Hans Petrat became Bavarian champion. In 2001 he won the bronze medal in the team competition at the German Youth Championships.

On August 11, 2001, he started in the national team for the first time as part of the Summer Grand Prix 2001 and immediately achieved points in this competition with 28th place. He was able to leave top jumpers such as Sven Hannawald and Janne Ahonen behind. He was then added to the squad for the Continental Cup for the 2001/02 season . On January 19, 2002 he was able to win COC points with 8th place in his first COC competition in Ishpeming . He repeated this in the following competitions. In Westby he surprisingly won his first jumping competition on January 27th.

At the German championship in 2002 he finished second with the team and thus won his only national medal in the adult category. In the individual competition on the normal hill, he was ninth.

This was followed by changing results in the Continental Cup. However, he could not repeat his success from Westby. On December 29, 2004 Petrat started for the first time in the Ski Jumping World Cup at the start of the Four Hills Tournament 2004/05 in Oberstdorf and jumped to 46th place. In the end he was in 72nd place in the tour's overall ranking. After his results in the Continental Cup got weaker and weaker, he took part in four FIS races in Japan in March 2005 and then ended his active ski jumping career.

Hans Pertrat grew up in Oberaudorf and has two sisters.
