Ludovic Roux (born April 4, 1979 in Sallanches ) is a former French Nordic combined skier . Between 1998 and 2006 he took part in the Winter Olympics three times and won a bronze medal. During his playing days he started for SC les Contamines Montjoie.

Career

At the Junior World Championships in 1996 in Asiago , Italy , Roux won the silver medal with the French team. On November 30, 1996, he made his debut in the B World Cup and immediately took third place at the competition in Bardufoss, Norway . With another third place in the Finnish city of Rovaniemi , he is recommended for a start in the Nordic Combined World Cup . At the World Cup in Schonach he was allowed to make his debut in the World Cup on January 5, 1997 and surprising the world elite with a tenth place. On January 14, 1997, he was among the top five for the first time. At the World Cup in Val di Fiemme , he finished fifth. Then he was at the Junior World Championships in 1997 in Canmore, Canada with the French team relay world champion and won the bronze medal in singles. At the end of the season he finished 17th in the overall World Cup with a total of 400 points

His first and only podium place in the World Cup was on January 18, 1998 in the 1997/98 Olympic season . At the World Cup in Chaux-Neuve, third place behind the Czech Milan Kučera and the Austrian Felix Gottwald . At the age of 18, he qualified for the 1998 Winter Olympics in the Japanese city of Nagano and was nominated for the Winter Games by the Comité National Olympique et Sportif Français . He was allowed to start in the individual and in the team. After he was 27th in the individual after jumping, he finished the competition in 31st place after cross-country skiing. Together with Sylvain Guillaume , Nicolas Bal and Fabrice Guy he fought for medals in the relay competition and the French team won the bronze medal behind Norway and Finland. With his 586 points, he finished tenth in the overall World Cup at the end of the season.

After winning team bronze in 1999 at the Junior World Championships in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer, Austria , he took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships for the first time and took 23rd place in the 1999 Gundersen Competition at the 1999 Nordic World Ski Championships . On September 2, 2000 he made his debut at the Grand Prix in Stams in the Grand Prix of Nordic Combined and finished the competition in 35th place. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2001 in Lathi he was able to achieve his best individual result with 14th place in the Gunderson competition. He started the relay together with Kevin Arnould , Sylvain Guillaume and Frédéric Baud and the French finished the relay competition in ninth place. In the 2000/01 World Cup , he finished 28th with 312 points.

He was allowed to take part in the 2002 Winter Olympics in the US city of Salt Lake City and was allowed to compete in all three competitions. After he only finished 26th in the Gunderson competition, he missed winning a medal in the team competition together with Frédéric Baud , Kevin Arnould and Nicolas Bal again. In the sprint competition on the large hill, he was able to improve from 20th place after jumping to 10th place in cross-country skiing.

At the Grand Prix in Klingenthal , on August 29, 2003, with second place behind Ronny Ackermann, he was able to get on the podium for the first and only time at a Grand Prix. After a few bad World Cup seasons, the 2003/04 season went better again. For example, he came fifth in the Gunderson competition at the World Cup in Schonach in the Black Forest . He finished the season in eleventh place in the overall standings and in twelfth place in the Sprint World Cup.

The Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in the German municipality of Oberstdorf were his fourth and last Nordic World Ski Championships . While he finished a sobering 36th place in the Gunderson competition, he came in seventh place in the team competition together with Nicolas Bal , Jason Lamy Chappuis and Kevin Arnould .

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, he took part in his third and final Winter Olympics. In the individual competition, he finished 26th again, just like four years ago, and together with François Braud , Jason Lamy Chappuis and Nicolas Bal he missed an Olympic medal in the relay competition in fifth. After the Winter Olympics, he ended his career.

Private

Ludovic Roux married the French figure skater Isabelle Delobel on June 27, 2009 and their first son, Loïs, was born on October 2.
