CSK 4 motif

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The CSK 4 motif is a structural motif of proteins .

properties

The CSK 4 motif consists of the amino acid sequence Cys - Ser - Lys -Lys-Lys-Lys (short: CSKKKK). Triple palmitoylated (Pam3) CSK 4 motifs are bound by TLR-2 and activate the innate immune response . The first palmitoylation on CSK 4 takes place at the N terminus (with Pam-CSK 4 ), with Pam2-CSK 4 both palmitic acids are bound to the sulfur atom of the side chain of the cysteine via a diacylglyceride and with Pam3-CSK 4 there is a palmitoylation on all three before named positions.
