Andreas Hurschler (born September 14, 1977 in Stans ) is a former Swiss Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Hurschler made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup in the 1994/95 season . In doing so, he immediately achieved five World Cup points and in the end he was 50th in the overall World Cup ranking. After that it was quiet about Hurschler. It wasn't until the Nordic World Ski Championships in Ramsau am Dachstein in 1999 that he started again internationally. He reached 40th place in the Gundersen. After the World Championship he started in the B World Cup , where he celebrated his first victory at the end of January 2000. From February he started again in the World Cup. He was able to regularly reach the points again straight away. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2001 in Lahti , he came in 33rd place in Gundersen and 10th place with the team. At the Swiss Championships in Nordic Combined in 2001 in St. Moritz , Hurschler won the bronze medal behind Andy Hartmann and Ronny Heer . At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City he reached 7th place in the team competition after another season in the B World Cup together with Jan Schmid , Ivan Rieder and Ronny Heer. In the sprint, Hurschler came in 21st and in the individual on 25th place. On March 31, 2002 he again won bronze in the individual at the Swiss Championships in Nordic Combined 2002 in Les Tuffes . A year later he was able to improve his performance and achieved eighth place with the team at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in Val di Fiemme . In the sprint, Hurschler came 15th and in Gundersen 17th. In the 2003/04 season he achieved the best placement of his career in the Sprint World Cup with 17th place overall. Two years later he reached his highest place in the overall World Cup with his 16th place in the 2005/06 season . At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , he and the team just barely missed the medal ranks in the team competition with fourth place. In the sprint, Hurschler reached 21st and in Gundersen 23rd place. At the Swiss Championships in Nordic Combined in 2006 in Einsiedeln he won the gold medal in the individual. In 2007 Hurschler ended his active career.

Andreas Hurschler is the brother of Seppi Hurschler .
