Ivan Rieder (born December 3, 1976 in Thun ) is a former Swiss Nordic combined athlete .
Career
Rieder made his international debut in December 1998 in the Nordic Combined B World Cup. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Ramsau in 1999 , he and the team came in 9th. On January 3, 2000, he made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup in Oberwiesenthal . A year later he succeeded in winning World Cup points for the first time in Reit im Winkl . At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2001 in Finland's Lahti he had to settle in the individual disciplines with rear placement, the team he reached the 10th place. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , together with Andreas Hurschler , Jan Schmid and Ronny Heer, he took seventh place in the team competition. In the individual he reached 42nd place. At the Swiss Championships in the Nordic Combined 2003 in Kandersteg , he won the championship title in the individual ahead of Ronny Heer and Guido Landert . He repeated this success again in 2004 and 2005. In the overall World Cup, he finished the 2003/04 season as the most successful of his career in 26th place in the overall World Cup ranking. A year later, Rieder achieved the highest overall ranking in the Sprint World Cup with 22nd place. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , he just missed the medal ranks in the team competition with the team and ended up fourth. In the individual competition, Rieder landed on 27th place and in the sprint on 36th place. At the Swiss Championships in Nordic Combined in 2006 in Einsiedeln , he won the silver medal in the individual again. After the 2006/07 season he ended his international career.
