Antti Sakari Kuisma (born February 23, 1978 in Jyväskylä ) is a former Finnish Nordic combined .

Career

Kuisma made his national debut in 1987, before he played his first World Cup season in 1999 and achieved his first podium place at the Summer Grand Prix in Oberhof in 2001 . His best individual result in the World Cup was a fifth place in February 2005 in Pragelato in the sprint. Because of the great competition within the team, Kuisma competed more often in the B World Cup and won three races with a total of seven podium finishes. The first success was a Gundersen competition in 2001 in Val di Fiemme and shortly afterwards a sprint victory in Taivalkoski , in 2006 in Vuokatti he won again in Gundersen.

Kuisma achieved the greatest success of his career at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , where he won the bronze medal in the Nordic Combined team competition together with Anssi Koivuranta , Jaakko Tallus and Hannu Manninen .

In 2008 Kuisma ended his active career and announced his retirement together with teammate Hannu Manninen after he had participated in a total of 66 World Cups and the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin. During the 2008 Summer Grand Prix, Kuisma traveled as an assistant coach with the Finnish Nordic Combined team.

After Kuisma started singing and guitar in the winter sports band Vieraileva Tähti in 1999 , he has since started supporting smaller bands in the vicinity of his hometown Jyväskylä. As a consultant, he stands by his former musician colleagues in the band The Kroisos and coordinates the studio recordings.

Kuisma is not married and currently lives in Vuokatti. There he trains youngsters in Nordic combined.
